I spent my childhood in northern Minnesota. From my youngest years, my parents instilled within me a love for travel. Our family of eight would spend many months traveling around the country in an RV. It was a wonderful time to travel and experience the rich history and beauty of our country. It’s not surprising as an adult I would continue the adventure of seeing the beautiful world around me from behind a camera lens.
It was in the early part of October and my husband and I were on a mission to capture images of the beautiful aurora borealis. We came upon this scene on one of the many beautiful lakes in our area. The fog was gathering over the waters and the moon was rising to the right of the scene. The floatplane was peacefully docked in the calm waters and the northern lights danced in the fog and created a spectacular symphony of color and movement. It took my breath away. No camera could capture the essence of the moment but the memory for me lives on with the images I took that night.
I would have to say I love all photography but the type that fascinates me the most, therefore setting it apart, would have to be night photography. The world appears so much bigger and vast in the darkness of the night. There is a quietness and peace in being out under the stars and yet an exhilaration not knowing what will be captured with your camera.
Every area I have traveled to holds its own incredible beauty. I am partial however to my beautiful state of Minnesota!
The list is long but I would say on the top of the list is Iceland! I have read that it’s the most visually exciting place to photograph!
My heart’s desire is for everyone that sees my photography to know the Creator personally and recognize the wonderful gift that God has given us as in this diverse and beautiful planet.
I am working on expanding my night time photography skills and portfolio.
I have to laugh! The truth is it would have to be my husband. He has been incredibly supportive in helping me achieve my goals in my passion for photography.
If you were shipwrecked on an island but had all your human needs (food, water, clothing) what two items would you take with you?
My Bible and a hammock!
ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER
Since my childhood, I have had a love for all things French. My French ancestry is deep in my heart, and as a former French teacher, I have a passion for the regional specialties of France. I love discovering the local flavor, and I want others to explore deeper than the tourist destinations and experience something more authentic. I propose self-guided itineraries featuring the artisans in the region, as well as unique experiences, restaurants and places to stay. My videos allow artisans to showcase their passion and expertise. I also have an online boutique so we can enjoy artisanal specialties back at home.
